Course Overview

The course consists of three parts:

1 – PADI eLearning

The first part of your PADI Open Water course is the eLearning, accessible online on both computer and smartphone. You will learn the theoretical basics of scuba diving at your own pace, from home or during your vacation in Boracay. This step covers:

  • Fundamentals of diving : Pressure, buoyancy, and air management underwater.
  • Use of scuba diving equipment : Familiarization with essential components such as the regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), and tank.
  • Dive planning : Introduction to safe dive planning and assessing underwater conditions.
  • Quiz : Validate your knowledge with online tests and prepare for the practical sessions.

With eLearning, you can progress at your own pace and focus on the practical skills once in Boracay.

Time required : 5-10 hours

2 – Confined Water Dives

In this second step, you will move on to practical training directly on White Beach, Boracay’s white sandy beach, right in front of the dive center. Under my supervision as a certified PADI instructor, you will learn in ideal and safe conditions. Together, we will perfect the following skills:

  • Essential scuba diving techniques : You will learn how to breathe comfortably underwater, retrieve and clear your regulator, clear your mask, and more.
  • Emergency situation management : We will practice scenarios such as mask removal or air sharing, so you are prepared for any situation.
  • Swimming with full gear : I will guide you to ensure you are comfortable with your full equipment.
  • Buoyancy control : I will help you master buoyancy adjustment in shallow waters.

This personalized training in a confined environment will help you gain confidence while enjoying the beautiful setting of Boracay, before diving in open water.

Prerequisite : Section 1 of eLearning OR Discover Scuba Diving briefing that I will conduct.

Time required : 1 to 3 sessions, half a day each.

3 – Open Water Dives

The final step of your PADI Open Water training takes you to explore underwater wonders. It’s time to discover the crystal-clear waters of Boracay and its beautiful dive sites suitable for all levels. Here’s what you’ll experience:

  • Supervised dives : Under my guidance as a PADI instructor, you will take part in four exciting dives: two at a depth of 12 meters and two more reaching up to 18 meters.
  • Application of skills : You will have the opportunity to use the skills learned in your previous sessions, such as buoyancy control and breathing techniques, while exploring the marine life around you.
  • Discovering marine biodiversity : Take the opportunity to observe a variety of marine species, from colorful fish to vibrant corals, while learning about marine ecology. Each dive offers unique chances to explore the local flora and fauna.
  • Certification : At the end of the dives, you will earn your PADI Open Water certification.

This step allows you to have a rewarding experience that will make you an independent diver. You’ll leave with unforgettable memories and the confidence to explore the underwater world on your own.

Prerequisite : 1 confined water dive

Time required : 4 dives – approx. 2 hours per dive (including preparation, briefing, boat ride, dive, and debriefing)
