PADI Rescue Diver Course Overview
If you need EFR training, we will start with that. It includes 1 eLearning module and half a day of practical training.
The course consists of three parts:
1 – PADI eLearning
The first step of the PADI Rescue Diver course begins with eLearning. Accessible online from your computer or smartphone, this module allows you to learn at your own pace, wherever you are. You will cover key topics to become a diver capable of managing underwater emergency situations. Here’s what you’ll explore:
- Proactive incident prevention: Identifying potential hazards in advance to prevent them from occurring.
- Rescue techniques: Learning maneuvers to assist a diver who is fatigued, panicking, or unconscious.
- Stress management in diving: Understanding the causes of stress and techniques to calm a stressed diver.
- Emergency communication procedures: Understanding the steps to take to request assistance and coordinate a rescue.
- Diving emergency first response: Acquiring the skills to provide initial medical care in diving emergencies.
Each module is accompanied by quizzes to assess your knowledge and prepare you for practical exercises in Boracay.
Time: 6-12 hours
2 – Rescue Skills
This part of the course provides a hands-on opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you’ve gained from the eLearning modules. You’ll participate in a series of controlled exercises designed to simulate real-life diving emergencies.
- Assisting a fatigued diver: Techniques for helping a struggling diver safely return to the surface.
- Panic management: Learning how to respond to a diver experiencing a panic attack, ensuring both your and their safety.
- Submerged diver rescue: Developing the ability to locate, recover, and provide initial care for an unconscious diver underwater.
- Emergency towing and recovery: Techniques for safely towing and recovering a distressed diver to the surface in emergency situations.
- Surface resuscitation: Immediate first aid after bringing a diver to the surface, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
For your safety and comfort, these exercises will take place in the sheltered waters of Boracay, on the beautiful White Beach. I’ll be there to guide you.
Time : 2 to 3 sessions of 3 hours
3 – Rescue Scenarios
The PADI Rescue Diver course in Boracay includes two full-scale rescue simulations. These simulations provide a hands-on opportunity to practice the rescue techniques you’ve learned in a realistic underwater environment.
Under my supervision, you’ll face various challenges where you’ll need to assess the situation, make quick decisions, and apply your rescue skills effectively.
Scenario 1 : Search and Rescue Operation: In this scenario, you will simulate a situation where a diver has become lost underwater. You will need to develop a search plan, coordinate the efforts of your team (if applicable), and use underwater navigation techniques to find the missing diver. Once located, you will proceed with their rescue and administer first aid.
Scenario 2 : Surface Rescue This scenario will assess your skills in locating, stabilizing, and rescuing an unconscious diver at the surface. You will practice providing rescue breaths while towing the diver to a safe location, and then initiating appropriate first aid procedures.
These scenarios emphasize priority management, underwater and surface communication, and coordination with other divers. Diving in the crystal-clear waters of Boracay while facing these emergency situations prepares you for real-world conditions and boosts your confidence as a skilled and independent diver.
